One-room apartment in Helsinki
Helsinki apartment project for a family of two (father and son – toddler). The owner/investor requested must have changes in the layout of the flat i.e. separate children’s room to be created and work desk with the ability to see the TV in order to be used for work. For the sake of accomplishing that, we’ve offered a solution that requested demolishing of the existing partition wall that divided the apartment into a kitchen with a dining room on the left side, and a long living space on the right side. With the new wall, the apartment is divided into a kitchen on the left which is closed with a peninsula and a dining table on the right. In the part intended for the dining room, although physically connected with the living room, by using a different color on the walls (or in one of the variants – on the wall and on the suspended ceiling) we achieved a definition of the function. On the other hand, the living room, which consists of a sofa and an armchair, can be separated from the children’s corner by using a curtain that moves along a rail placed on the ceiling.
